Happy Birthday Catharine!

Last night Justin and I made strawberry cupcakes and hung purple balloons and streamers.

This morning, Catharine woke up excited to be five, and we had a breakfast party so that Madelyn could be a part of the celebrating.  I made cinnamon rolls and added sprinkles to the girls', Catharine opened her presents, and then I checked Madelyn into school about 15 minutes late.  

Catharine and Elizabeth and I met some friends at CHOM (Children's Hands On Museum) in Tuscaloosa.   After an hour and a half of playing, we headed to Target for Catharine to spend some of her birthday money.  She wanted more lip gloss, got some silly bands, dollar spot note pads and MORE chap stick.  She also chose some girly eye shadow and glimmer powder.  

After shopping we were on our way to pick up Justin and head to Chick-Fil-A (hooray!) for some birthday lunch.  The girls ate quickly so they could play :)

Naps were attempted, but turned into "rest" time instead.  It was close to time to get Madelyn, so we headed out the door again.  After getting M, we picked up TCBY for all, picked up one of the girls' besties and made our way to the Dollar Tree for each girl to spend $4 on whatever they wanted (a fun treat from Mema!) which was really a lot of fun.  It was super cute for them to pick up something and then find something else and return the previous choice to its shelf...

There was a quick Publix run so I could get some things to fix for dinner (with all of the birthday excitement I completely forgot to plan dinner?!?!)!  We went home and the girls played with their new treasures while I cooked, we ate, blew out a cupcake candle, half ate cupcakes, and were out the door to church with another set of cupcakes in hand for Catharine to share with her class.

What-a-day.  

I asked Catharine what her favorite parts of her day were, she answered, "getting presents, lip gloss, and gum."  (Thanks, Ms. Shannon!)

I love my girls.  I love birthdays.  I'm thankful that my Mom made all of my birthdays super special---and I know that it's because of her I want my girls to feel extra special on their days :)  

 Thank you Lord, you have surely blessed us, we give you the glory!

She's Five

It's big.  Today she's 4, tomorrow she's 5.  There is something different about this one turning 5, the miracle she is, this year will go to Kindergarten.  She is so big, spelling her name, playing the piano.  So hard to believe that 5 years ago we were told she wouldn't make it.  Oh, thank you Lord, for this precious girl.  We are so blessed.

Happy birthday, sweet Catharine Faith.  Oh how you are loved.  We thank God for you, what a precious gift you are!   

SicK DaY

Getting all craft-astic this morning was fun, messy, and more fun.  I just pulled out some scrapbooking stuff and sat with the girls while we made thank you cards for Christmas presents.  They loved using all of the fun scissors and glue sticks, ribbon and hole punchers.

One thing we love to do is have a tea party.  This was a junk food tea party, what else do you do on a freezing cold sick day?  They loved eating nerds, jelly beans, marshmallows, and Sunkist...and yes, Moses is in the background.  We need to find the lil' fella a new home...

The main event...

Love this lil' pitcher we found at our thriftstore!  It is just their size for pouring.

There is something very big about turning 5.  Looking foward to reflecting on her lil' life...what a precious impact she has had already.  Can you believe it's been five years?!

Hate that she has missed two days of school this week-------but I love that I've had some M time.

This kid.  Ha!  She keeps things lively, for sure.  

 All aboard!  They made a train in the hall way and wanted to go to South Lamar (where Nana and Pop live)...

Lil' mommas.

Couldn't leave out what normally happens after snapping pictures!  M rolled backwards, Catharine laid back, E got mad about something---life with girls=d.r.a.m.a.  Always.  Just keepin' it real, folks.

And we ended the day with a "Pajama-pillow party" watching Cinderella.  Yay for them watching the WHOLE movie and then crawling right in bed without a fight.  This week without Justin (he's in North Carolina taking an intensive, LAST elective!) has been more trying than normal, but this day was good.  Very good.
