UNC appointment update

Hey Friends...
Our trip to UNC was hmm...what words can I use? Long, draining, sweet, scary? Let me explain.
We started by parking. If you visited me in the hospital you would know that parking is an event in itself at UNC Hospital. Wow. We parked on the top deck out of five stories. HUGE parking decks there. I mean you have to get to the hospital thirty minutes early just to park. Anyway...The Pulminologist, Dr. Noah, was great. He said that Catharine definately has Reflux. We are hoping that the medicine (Axid) will continue to make it better. Her wheezing and coughing has gotten somewhat better. She isn't getting any breathing treatments because the wheezing resloves itself after about 30 minutes. The problem is the cough is still there. It isn't as bad, but just the fact that she had serious lung hypoplasia at birth makes a chronic cough a big deal. Dr. Noah said that after about ten weeks if the cough is still there he will want to do some lung testing. This would include some pretty invasive tests where she would be under anesthesia.
Dr. Noah was very impressed that Catharine is such a normal baby after her rough beginning. We all know that is a testimony to God's healing on her body, but in medicine there are no answers for that. He was astounded. He said that being on an oscilator (the type of ventilator that God used to save Catharine's life) is such an ordeal that it causes heath problems by itself. Not for her ;) Are we surprised??? God is so good to us. We are so thankful!
Thank you for your concerns and prayers. We will keep you updated on this cough, but are hoping the Axid will kick it.
After our appointment we visited what once was my home for almost 3 months. We got to see some precious familiar faces! Nurses on the 5th floor, Cindy, Warrie, Ruth, Jennifer, Janet, Barbara, Holly in L&D, Jennifer in L&D...it was so good to see them. They truly feel like family. They took such good care of me while I was a patient at UNC. I miss them very much. Visiting the floor just flooded my mind with memories. Madelyn was also flooded with memories as she strolled into the unit! She wanted to go right over to the nursery and see the babies! She remembered doing that every time she came to see me with her Nana.
I could write on and on about how I feel about UNC. Let's just say that Chapel Hill holds a very special place in my heart. I will forever be greatful of the time God gave me there. And for the precious blessing of Catharine that He gave us, we are so unworthy of His love and blessings!
